The Dual-Function Micro Switch for Brembo RCS brake master cylinders is the evolution of the standard switch originally installed on Brembo pumps. Designed to be universal, it completely eliminates compatibility issues between the Brembo master cylinder and the motorcycle’s electrical system, thanks to its ability to manage both open-circuit and closed-circuit functions simultaneously.

How the Dual-Function Micro Switch Works ?

On standard Brembo master cylinders, the switch is normally pressed by the resting lever, keeping the circuit open. When the lever is pulled, the switch returns to its normal position and closes the circuit, activating the brake light.

With this new universal Micro Switch, you can freely choose how to connect it: – to close or open the circuit depending on your motorcycle’s electrical system, – or to replace the original dual-function switch installed on your bike.

Which Motorcycles Require the Dual-Function Micro Switch ?

This micro switch is essential for all motorcycles equipped with Cruise Control, either as standard or optional equipment. You can easily check it: if your original switch has three wires and your motorcycle features Cruise Control, then you need this Micro Switch to properly install a Brembo RCS brake master cylinder or other compatible Brembo pumps.

It is also required on all motorcycles equipped with an original switch featuring a Normally Open Contact.

It is not required for motorcycles in which the brake light function is managed by the ABS control unit (for example, many BMW models), since these systems do not use a traditional switch.

Micro Switch Functions

  • Normally Closed Contact: when removed from the master cylinder, the switch keeps the circuit closed. This is the typical setup used on most motorcycles. When the lever is at rest, the switch keeps the circuit open; when the lever is pulled, the switch returns to its normal position and closes the circuit, turning on the brake light.
  • Normally Open Contact: when removed from the pump, the switch keeps the circuit open. When the lever is at rest, the switch closes the circuit; pulling the lever opens it, activating the brake light or disabling the Cruise Control function.
